Rules of Design: 1-5

1. Have A Concept -

Green Day - American Idiot
The bleeding heart as a grenade conceptualizes the anti-war stance taken with the title "american idiot."

2. Communicate, Don't Decorate

Rage Against the Machine - Renegades
Playing off of Philadelphia's  famous "LOVE Park" sculpture, a new and different message is communicated strongly by making it "RAGE" instead.

3. Speak With One Visual Voice

Justice - D.A.N.C.E
This one incorporates a unified visual voice with the high contrast image and working of the title into the shirt of the individuals.

4. Two Typefaces Families Maximum

Stereogum - OKX: A Tribute to OK Computer
A "DIY" looking approach is taken with type, as some of it is in a handwritten font, while the rest is in a more traditionally used font.

5. One-Two Punch Hierarchy

HARD-Fi - Stars of CCTV
The one-two punch works nicely as the CCTV camera immediately stands out, and the title comes to the eye secondary.
